After Divorce–What’s Next?
May 15, 2019Are You Stuck In The Rejection Phase On the Road Through Recovery After Divorce?
June 6, 2019I am in the process of developing an online course that will enable women 50+ who have been married for a long time to move beyond divorce by working through a five-step process that I created. It will empower women to embrace a new beginning and create a new life on their own terms.
Before even working through the course, it is important for participants to incorporate a daily routine of empowerment for mind, body, and spirit.
Getting in touch with inner feelings is key for recovery and confidence-building after going through divorce. Creating awareness of feelings by not ignoring them or pushing them back down, allows for a safe place for them to come up. Journaling is the single most powerful tool one can use to cope with confusing or conflicted feelings in a healthy way. I started journaling after my divorce and found that it helped to lessen the impact of the negative self-talk that goes on in the head. It allowed me to release feelings out of my mind and flow through my fingers onto the page. If you are not familiar with self-talk and its impact on the psyche, a wonderful book to read is The Untethered Soul written by Michael Singer.
The more you journal, the more you can explore and investigate different ideas and possibilities surrounding a pain point that you seem to be “stuck” in right now. It is a great way to brainstorm for insights and solutions surrounding an issue that you just can’t seem to get past; and as a result, healing becomes more rapid.
Another way to help with recovery after divorce is leading a healthy lifestyle. Exercising regularly and eating healthy foods will give you more clarity of mind along with looking and feeling better. Start today if you don’t live like this already.
Lastly, beginning a meditation practice is one great way to learn to live in the present moment, quiet the mind, and learn to become the observer of thoughts as they come into the mind. When we have a negative attachment to the past, we can learn to identify it and let it go instead of letting our feelings and emotions get all tangled up in it. It takes a while to get good at this; but after some practice and repetition, it really does work.
I personally use the Insight Timer app which has tons of free guided meditations. OM Daily is also another free app that gives meditation, relaxation, inspiration for cultivating a healthy mind, body, and spirit.
