We Know What We Want. Why Don’t We Have It?

Welcome back to “Empower the Vision in You” Coaching Series of blogs. My purpose is to take you step by step in the process of creating your life from the inside out–motivating and inspiring you to move forward from where you are to where you want to be. In addition, I include some words of wisdom that will help you along the way. My goal is to write one blog a day or every other day for 30 days and encourage you to read them in succession as one will build upon the other. By the time you are finished, you will have the knowledge, confidence and power so that you can charge into action and conquer obstacles clearing a path to a life filled with love, health, happiness, and abundance.
In my first coaching blog, I spoke about how trusting the wisdom inside of us is the key to unlocking the secret to having a life full of love, health, happiness and abundance.
Here is tip #2.
Let’s begin with a simple question: Why is it that some people achieve success and live above the ordinary while others who have the same attributes and intelligence – never reach that level? I can remember knowing people from school that I was sure would make a mark in this world. They looked to have a bright future and possess all the qualities and potential to achieve any goal they desire; but in their reality, it never happened. Why? Because successful people make a decision. They are moving forward no matter what it takes. Successful people have a Life Purpose and Specific Plans to achieve their goals. So, they know WHAT THEY WANT and they know WHAT THEY HAVE TO DO TO GET IT.
If you were to ask others what their purpose in life is, many wouldn’t be able to answer the question. In fact, most people don’t think in terms of their purpose. They just do what is required to get by or live a reasonably good life-day in and day out. They let their senses guide them through life. Are you one of them? Are you satisfied with what you have created in your life or are you ready to change it? Are you ready to take some risks and battle some obstacles to win the prize of a more fulfilling, happy life?
So, here’s the question: What is your purpose in life? If you don’t know here is an exercise to help you find out. It is called To Be Is To Do Is To Have Exercise.
You want to have fun while using your imagination—no putting any limitations on yourself, What do you want to be? What do you want to have? What do you want to do? List as many things as possible that come to mind and list them in each column—The Sky Is The Limit. This will take some thought, reflection, and time to complete but it will give you an idea of what you really want. Next, take the one that stands out the most—the one that evokes a real familiar feeling inside—the inner knowing that points in that direction. Now, write a sentence describing it. You will start with the word TO with an action word after it and then complete the sentence. The goal is to come up with a Life Purpose Statement. Why? Because what you write will be the foundation upon which all your goals and actions plans will be built.
It could look like this:
BE | DO | HAVE |
